CMS Implements Electronic Repayment Option for Conditional Payments

As of April 1, 2019, debtors have the option to repay conditional payment claims electronically through the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP) and the Commercial Repayment Center Portal (CRCP). Importantly, payment can only be made on cases in which a demand has been issued. If some of the claims asserted are being appealed, partial payment can be made. Acceptable forms of payment include checking or savings accounts, debit cards, and PayPal accounts linked to a bank account, not a credit card. This new function is a convenient option for MSPRP and CRCP users and it provides them with the ability to track their payments and ensure they are accurately applied.

As always, we will continue to monitor this new development and let you know of any changes to the electronic repayment process.
