On April 13, 2026, CMS published Version 4.5 of the Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Aside Arrangement (WCMSA) Reference Guide.  Below is a summary of the changes.

Updated Link to the CDC Life Table

Version 4.5 includes an updated link to the CDC Life Table. This follows the September 11, 2025, announcement from CMS that they will use the CDC’s “Table 1: Life Table for the total population: United States, 2023” to determine the claimant’s life expectancy for WCMSAs. The updated link can be found in Section 10.3 of the Reference Guide.

New ZIP Codes in the Table Listing Major Medical Centers

The new Reference Guide includes additional ZIP codes in table listing major medical centers.  Such table governs what pricing to use for inpatient procedures in WCMSA proposals. The update specifically adds three ZIP codes in Illinois: 61705 for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, 60642 for The University of Chicago Medical Center, and 60484 for Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.

Version 4.5 of the Reference Guide is available at: https://www.cms.gov/files/document/wcmsa-reference-guide-version-4-5-april-13-2026.pdf. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
